Plans & Device Comparison

MTerm offers a generous free tier for trying out the app, a one-time Pro purchase for power users, and an optional subscription for cloud-powered features. Here is a detailed breakdown of what each plan includes.

What You Get for Free

The free tier is not a crippled demo. You get a fully functional SSH client with one host, two tabs, two panes, and core features like the soft key bar, keyboard shortcuts, CJK support, and iCloud sync. It is enough to evaluate whether MTerm fits your workflow before committing to a purchase.

Pro: Pay Once, Use Forever

Pro is a lifetime purchase โ€” you pay once and own it permanently. No recurring charges, no expiration. Every Pro feature listed above is yours forever, including any future additions to the Pro tier.

Pro is designed for developers who use MTerm regularly. The unlimited hosts, tabs, and panes alone make it worthwhile if you manage more than one server. Add in the file editor, tmux integration, Mosh support, and full theme customization, and it covers everything most developers need.

Subscribe Plan

The Subscribe plan adds cloud-powered features on top of Pro:

Webhook NotificationsYes

Pricing

PeriodPrice
Monthly$1.99 / month
Yearly$24.99 / year (2 months free)

The Subscribe plan is specifically for users who want the AI Assistant and unlimited webhook notifications. If you do not need these cloud features, Pro gives you everything else.

What Subscribe Adds

AI Assistant โ€” A floating AI panel that can read your terminal output and provide contextual help. Ask questions about errors, get command suggestions, or have code explained. Supports Claude Code mode with image and file attachments.

Unlimited Webhooks โ€” Remove the daily webhook limit entirely. Set up as many notification endpoints as you need for CI/CD pipelines, server monitoring, and automation.

Unlimited Clipboard History โ€” No cap on stored clipboard items. Your full copy history is always available.

iPad vs iPhone

MTerm is a universal app that runs natively on both iPad and iPhone. The core experience โ€” SSH connections, authentication, clipboard, snippets, settings, and all Pro/Subscribe features โ€” is identical on both platforms. The differences are purely about how the UI adapts to screen size.

iPad Strengths

The iPad is the primary platform for MTerm. With a Magic Keyboard attached, it is genuinely capable of replacing a laptop for many development workflows. Pane splitting, IDE mode, and the large screen make it ideal for Claude Code sessions where you need to see the terminal, code, and file browser simultaneously.

iPhone Use Cases

The iPhone version is designed for quick access and monitoring rather than extended development sessions:

  • Check on running processes
  • Review logs
  • Execute quick commands
  • Receive and respond to webhook notifications
  • Emergency server troubleshooting when you do not have your iPad

Invitation Codes

MTerm supports invitation codes for special promotions and early access features. To enter an invitation code:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap the version number at the bottom of the Settings screen 10 times
  3. An input field for the invitation code will appear
  4. Enter your code and tap confirm

This hidden input is intentional โ€” invitation codes are for specific promotional campaigns and are not a general feature that needs to be prominently displayed.
